7 Must-Try Denim Trends: Double Denim to Quilted Jackets

Denim is always a moment, but this year the trend is turning your classic favorites up a notch—long denim skirts, double denim, quilted, vintage, distressed, two-toned, etc.

These won't necessarily be new, but we haven't seen trends like this in awhile.  In this post, we will take a closer look.

Don't be scared; this is going to be fun.

Quilted Denim

Quilted denim adds a unique texture to the fabric, making an otherwise fundamental piece more interesting. It involves incorporating quilted detailing into denim pieces like jackets or jeans. It's also a great way to add a cozy element to your denim pieces, making them perfect for spring.

Two-tone Denim

The two-tone effect uses two different shades of denim in one piece creating a subtle contrast or a bold statement, depending on the colors used. It's a fun way to experiment with color-blocking and can add a unique element to your denim pieces, elevating a classic fit. This trend has been seen on jackets, jeans, and even skirts.

Baggy Denim

Skinny jeans have been the go-to style for many years and will continue to be a favorite of mine. But in 2023, we can expect to see more baggy denim. This trend is all about comfort and movement, and it's an excellent option for those who prefer a more relaxed fit. You can pair them with a fitted top or an oversized sweater for a comfortable yet stylish look.

Distressed Denim

Distressed denim has been popular for several years, and it's not going anywhere in 2023. This style features rips, tears, and frayed edges for a worn-in look. When you wear it, have fun and dress it up with a blazer and heels, or dress down with a t-shirt and sneakers. The key is to keep the contrast between the pieces to keep your style modern.

Vintage Denim

Vintage denim features high-waisted jeans with a straight leg or flared hem. Is this a Daisy Jones & The Six trend? Not really. This style pops up a lot when the Spring season rolls around. How to wear it? A crop top or a tucked-in blouse is always a good idea, especially if you're going for a retro look. Brands like Wrangler and Lee offer vintage-inspired denim options that are perfect for this trend.

Double denim

Double denim, or the "Canadian tuxedo," is another trend that has been trying to have its moment for years. This look involves wearing two pieces of denim together: a denim jacket and jeans or a denim shirt and skirt. How do you pull this off this look? It's important to choose pieces that are different shades of denim to avoid looking too matchy-matchy. But not too far off that, it looks weird. It's a delicate balance, but once you figure it out, you won't be able to stop wearing it. Trust.

Cargo Denim

Cargo denim is a trend that is gaining momentum this spring. The combination of the practicality of cargo pants with the durability and versatility of denim makes it a perfect fit for the season. With its multiple pockets and loose fit, cargo denim provides both comfort and functionality, and its classic denim look means it can be styled for any occasion. So, whether you're running errands or going out for a casual dinner, cargo denim is a must-try trend this spring.

If you're like me, you're looking for a fresh way to wear your favorite fabric, and the cool thing about these trends is that whatever your style, there's a denim style out there that's perfect for you. Give it a try, and have fun.
